Communal Grounds | A place for all

To design a space that would celebrate the cultural and traditional identity of the Kaligam community which would encourage the urban dwellers to get in touch with their original roots. The site has been designed in such a way that individuals from the neighboring areas, as well as other prospective future stakeholders, can coexist on the site, regardless of their caste or socioeconomic status. As a result, this site will serve as a hub for people to gather together despite their differences. The site’s vegetation is designed in such a way that it becomes a haven for a wide range of fauna from the surrounding areas, attracting them to the site thereby enhancing the site’s biodiversity and creating a more resilient future that can potentially operate as a carbon sink and endure future climate change.
