The Grayscapes

The impacts of the consumption of raw materials and disposal of its by products on the environment is the main focus. The raw material is water and coal, by product is fly ash and bottom ash. The vision of this project is to study the impacts of ash on soil, ground water, habitats and its surrounding areas. As the generation of ash increases over time, it is important to understand and formulate new techniques of disposal which doesn’t disturb the ecology and living conditions of the space. The area designated for the ash pond is huge in scale and hence a potential area to build in an ecology within it, that supports the natural habitats of the space. The river edge is polluted with garbage dump, and waste water outlet from the ash pond. This affects the water quality and liveability of the fauna there. Balancing the Industrial process and eco sensitive spaces with design solutions and measures are the aim of this project.
