Reimagining Threshold

Vasana gam is a peri- urban village in near Anjali Char rasta, Ahmedabad. The gam has grown organically and people started to build according to the resources they have. The life in between the street and the house is extremely active with various activities going on such as children playing in the chowk, Women chopping vegetables on the otlas of the house etc. However with the changing time and increasing needs of people, one can see the need for more privatization of the houses, in a way that people in the community have started to build walls or use temporary measures to cut the connections from the street, the threshold as a consequence, loses its nature as a transitional space. As a result, it also loses its original functionality and succumbs to reimagine the threshold spaces for the community so that the socio-cultural values of the neighborhood remain intact with changing times.
