Community Pockets

The project was envisioned as a set of strategies that can be applied to any existing society common plot in Rajkot irrespective of its size, shape, features, etc to develop it into a community pocket. The larger aim of the project was to bring back Communal unity, values, and activities, which were getting lost within the neighborhoods of Rajkot due to Urbanization and Gentrification. The design incorporates the learnings from the Vernacular Architecture of the City itself and materializes the programmatic needs of the community using the elements of the Neighborhood which generated these Values and Activities.
