A SOCIAL-ECOLOGICAL INSERT

Navrangpura being a former neighborhood went through a lot of changes and the people living there too. The groups are diverse and densely populated. With population comes growth and development and that leads to modified infrastructure and negligence of available resources. I am looking at Different protocols of harvesting rainwater, to mitigate urban flooding and to recharge water. Through the storm water (coming from streets) I m proposing a public place which initiate dialogue between community and biodiversity- A social ecological insert to the precinct.

The design utilizing Water as resource to mitigate urban flooding and through that water, creating a public place for leisure which is a social-ecological insert to the precinct.

Wetlands produce clean water and rich vegetation. The ways they are used may adapt to the social, economic and cultural conditions in neighborhood.

a place for everyone, The bund and some parts of the wetland are accessible. The paved area on all four sides connects the two roads on either side, which is helpful for pedestrians and cyclists to hang around or pass through. The front edge along main street is a shaded open plinth for passersby to stop and talk, to come in the evening and sit or to hold small gatherings.

By introducing a prototype like this, the quality of living can be provoked; Which will not only initiate a dialogue between the community and its association with nature but also will be beneficial to treasure and cherish biodiversity. Because the Wetland changes its form completely in different seasons it will give various aesthetics to the place itself.

Future plan, the neighborhood starts getting used to the better systems of making the correct choice of how to use resources and how to utilize them effectively because it is the community that matters. “We should think about giving back to earth than taking all the time” because it is beneficial to people and their ecosystem.
