Community Space, Mandu: Spanning Canopies

The project is a community space for the people of Jamnya village in Mandu, which developed as a culmination of innumerous tectonic processes and iterations. Brick and R.C.C have been used as the core materials to realize the structure and its form, which started out as a simple water tank. The spanning system has been worked out in such a way that the radial beams create a canopy of pergolas intertwined within the foliage of the existing trees on site. Using the module, plinths, retaining walls and other elements, a variety of spatial experiences are created . View Additional Work
