Kinetic Facade

Natural systems are effective in producing material and energy efficient solutions in response to environment. The intention of the project is to decipher the logic embedded within the natural systems to develop interior architectural systems. The project deals with the extreme climate of Delhi by adding a secondary skin onto the existing glass façade of a commercial building. This skin moves in response to the Sun, and controls the amount of direct Sun entering the building. The system is an extension of the idea that a building’s envelope is an active system rather than just a container.
