Weave

In today’s world Additive/ Subtractive manufacturing or in other word, parametric/ computational techniques have made the field of design, more fluid, adaptive and innovative as it achieves complex forms with different materials in an automated way, thereby making the construction process not only easy, but also highly precise and accurate.
Weave attempts to integrate and explore computational tools in the design process to attain innovative constructive methods with analysis, ideation, development, resolution and construction of scaled prototypes of the proposed product within a context

Introduction to Grasshopper

SITE ANALYSIS: After a few observations, The first level of the Faculty of Planning building was chosen as the site because of it being in a semi-open relaxing space for students after class and also because it’s in an upper level in the center of the campus, hence having a relatively silent atmosphere which provides a good view of the events happening on campus while relaxing or jamming.

ANTHROPOMETRY & ERGONOMICS: Apart from normal poses, human activities involving relaxing, performing/ watching were observed and the critical dimensions of the postures were noted to define the basis of the form and also to have a brief idea of the space consumption.

FORM: The outlines of the anthropometric blobs along with the site dimensions were further simplified and the dimensions were used as the basic parameters to derive the form, hence giving it a site specific organic form for the pod.
