NEWS -CO LAB: a journalism library

 In recent times, when we are surrounded by a lot of information every second of our lives- from papers to twitter (maybe true or fake), this public center strives to enable a partnership between libraries and journalists. In an era where digital media is advancing, the traditional concept of library is to redefined. Journalist and librarians have been long entwined by common goals and have been facing similar challenges as their industries undergo rapid transformation in digital age findings ways to collaborate. Librarians by teaming up with journalists can help to promote media literacy, tackle mis-information, develop community journalist, spur civic engagement and can eve take up on local reporting projects. Located among Ahmedabad's modernist buildings, this library provides the city with a public hub that includes a LIBRARY X JOURNALISM cooperation area. Along with the medium size library the program enables locals to submit their questions/queries about the stories that they feel are missing about their cities and team here will research (through the books), take interviews, held debates and talk shows and come down to conclusions in form of papers, articles, posters or any other form of creative social media output. It also offers it citizen with a center where young minds could come read and explore topics on their city’s latest news. Every once-a-week media trials, debates and talk show can be held where latest topics of city could be discussed, debated and where young minds, students, professionals could come up with initiatives, volunteering and could become a source of giving back to society in many other creative ways. 
 Why Aligning Missions of Library and journalism? Journalist and librarians have a common goal to pursuit the truth through information and research People are well connected with libraries -young as well as minorities and also libraries are more trustworthy source of information whereas journalist have resources and can provide the latest information in less time. Trust being an important factor, by combing these two the program could cater to a large amount of people and could help engage the community and create better public relations. It would create interest in a profession of news literacy which could directly affect the city, nations’ awareness on news and latest information making a Ahmedabad, India a strong democratic society among the people.  The core objectives of the center are -to engage community and introduce youths to media literacy and help train them in the field. -it will help enable a strong and well-informed community -Will increase news literacy and critical thinking Also, the role of librarians is to reflect their expertise as content creator and trusted navigator in ever expanding in the ocean of knowledge and hence it could also hold program such as -Using and setting up of archives -Libraries back copies  -Volunteer to research on topic the team is reporting
