Housing Project Studio

The studio aims to expose students to real estate market scenarios and dynamic housings in the city of Ahemdabad, students were asked to select greenfield and brownfield project sites based on different parameters based on the predominant land use, location, accessibility, market conditions, and other parameters. For e.g., Mill land redevelopment, Public land redevelopment, Slum land redevelopment, Private land redevelopment, Greenfield development. Each student develops the site as per their understanding from the existing macro and micro market analysis and their understanding of the supply and demand of the market, the status of micro markets including production rate, unsold inventory, and vacancy and develops a financially viable and implementable project. “The City of Ahmedabad has faced severe stress due to the restructuring process in the textile industry, sealing of mill premises by official liquidators, older Industrial Location policy, etc that has to lead to a serious dereliction of urban property, particularly in the eastern part of the city causing stress on the urban environment. Vacancy, idleness, un-utilization and unproductive has also caused possible revenue losses to the city and blockage of potential land for development”
