Initiatives to Reduce Non-Revenue Water

Existing situation analysis of water sector in Ahmedabad depicts that non-revenue water (NRW) in the city is higher than the set service level benchmark (SLB) standards and the collection efficiency and cost recovery are lower than the standards. The water lost not only adds on to the water stress in the city but also has huge monetary losses. Hence to make water sector in Ahmedabad safe and secure, there is a high need to reduce the physical and commercial losses of water i.e., the NRW. This project aims at developing various initiatives, both long term and short term to reduce the water losses. It looks into strengthening these initiatives by using innovative procurement methods and institutional mechanisms which would make their implementation easier.
