Transforming urban negative space into green space.

This pilot project came after the study and understanding of overall solid waste situation in Ahmedabad. The aim is to target the final step of the value chain i.e., disposal of waste. Ahmedabad city has very little green space and per capita green space is way less than the guidelines of WHO and URDPFI. The pirana dumpsite includes 83 acers of land which is a very good opportunity for a large city level green space. Since only 38% of waste is treated and the rest is dumped, this project tries to explore an alternative strategy for pirana dumpsite closure through capping process with phasing and explore after closure possible opportunities. The project also includes study of alternative scientific landfill site identification along with ground water remediation plan.
