Transportation Detailed Feasibility Project Studio

Logistics can be referred to as the process of movement & storage of goods from the origin point to the point of consumption. Logistics is an emerging industry with its supply chain becoming essential for connecting industrial centres with urban consumption nodes and markets. In this studio an attempt was made to understand the concepts related to logistics, understanding the supply chain and identifying the inefficiency in the process for the case city. Due to its strong economic centres and industrial activity, Ahmedabad is Gujarat's commercial capital. Pharmaceuticals, textile mills, and automobile and parts manufacture are just a few of the significant economic producers in and around the neighbourhood. Ahmedabad is the largest inland industrial centre in Western India and the second-largest after Mumbai. Chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and textiles make up the majority of the industries. The objective of the study was to first assess the need for providing a logistic park for the case city. For this purpose, the study of the supply chain would be looked into, the detailed market and traffic assessment will be done, the current cargo demand would be estimated and the nature of future commodities will be forecasted and finally assessing the feasibility of the project by doing its financial and economic analysis. The analysis and outcomes from the study will justify the need for proposing a multi-modal logistics park for GIDC, Naroda.
