ADOPTING URBANIZATION BY RAMIFICATION OF OPEN SPACE

“City is said to be the extended human settlement with different layers like transport, communication, livelihood, sanitation and housing overlapping and impacting among each other. Almost every metropolitan city possesses the spontaneous changing characteristics in terms of development, population & expanding boundary limits. It expands in terms by encroaching peripheral rural area and transforms it in a flow. Ahmadabad is one such city. This transition witnesses the ramification of the open spaces. By saying ramification of open space, here means that the agricultural land-use is being replaced with residential and commercial land-use. Gota, is one such witnessing village transforming into urban area.  The aim here is to understand how the transformation within the city is taking place by the information being generated by people’s perception by studying one- kilometer square precinct (Gota) which is located on the outer fringe of the Ahmadabad city.
