Amraiwadi : Infrastructure In Transition

Amraiwadi is located on eastern outskirt of the Ahmedabad city. The site lies at complete new with old Amraiwadi and Vastral neighborhood; the fragmented and the irregular organized. It is densely populated area since it is started developing due to migration because of the industrial development in that region in 1960’s. After shutting down the textile mills in 1980’s in East Ahmedabad, peoples are directed their work in different small-scale industries who came to worked before in late 1990’s and after shutdown they started working with miscellaneous small-scale industries. it is handed over to their next generations for survival later. They started living in Informal settlements in a Chawls since the industrial period. Peoples of this precinct is predominantly falls under Lower Income Group(LIG).Major roads of the precinct are in organic pattern and narrow compare to the western area and therefore, Consumed FSI and Market land rates are quite lower in comparison with the other western part of the city. Precinct has well developed infrastructure for water supply and sewerage. Also it has excellent solid waste management handling through Door to Door waste collection system. The precinct have good connectivity of public transport. Peoples gets various choices for public transport as AMTS, BRTS and METRO at good frequencies. Area lacks the good public realm spaces. Public activity such as vending, playing, social gathering is happening on road, vacant plots and near by temples mostly
