An Urban diversity of habitatas: Vadaj & NavaVadaj

This portfolio contains a detailed study of a square kilometre precinct in Vadaj - A predominant residential neighbourhood in west Ahmedabad, which focuses on various parameters of the different lifestyle of the people in Vadaj. The choice of lifestyle varies from family to family with respect to their economic status. A tremendous contrast can be seen in housing, travel behaviour, job options of this area where different communities reside together with different choices. The aim of this study is to analyze these differences in choice and the reasons behind it. While the New Ashram road which is a BRT corridor acts as a diversion between two different built fabrics. The study was done through different qualitative and quantitative methodologies such as, by engaging with the local communities through surveys, mapping, physical documentation.
