Asarwa - the global South of Ahmedabad

This portfolio of the first semester - Understanding the City Studio, Foundation Program of Master of Urban Housing (2019-2021) attempts to give a glimpse of the work done as part of the studio by studying a 1 x 1 square kilo meter area of Asarwa precinct via the following exercises. -History, evolution and transformation -Streets -Built-form, density and typology -Public realm -Water and sanitation -Public transport -Urban Land development -Incomes and choices - Jobs and livelihoods - Governance and municipal finance  Also writings and talks by Alain Bertaud (senior research scholar at New York’s Marron Institute of Urban Management) and Gautam Bhan (researcher, writer and an academic associated with IIHS, Bangalore) have been used as a framework to look at the precinct.
