BRTS Leverages Transit-Oriented Development

BRTS Leverages Transit-Oriented Development: Study of the influence of proximity to the city center and good Public Transport Connectivity on AmbawadiCity centers are where the political and economic powers are concentrated in a city. Nowadays city centers have become compact and congested and are the main job centers in the city. Since people want to live near their job, so the influence of housing choices of the people generally occurs in the areas having good connectivity from the city centers. Areas in the center of the city of Ahmedabad like Ashram Road, Ellisdge bridge, Paldi constitute the main Central Business District (CBD). Acharaya Narangev Nagar and Nehru Nagar circle areas of Ambawadi in Ahmedabad have been studied for this paper. The precinct studied is connected through Surendra Mangaldas Road (SM Road) at a distance of around 4 km to the CBD. Study shows that Proximity to the city center and good Public Transport System (PTS) connectivity is influencing the development of the precinct, and it is transforming the area into a prospective Transit-oriented Development model. This Project will present the analyses that how Proximity to the city center and good Public Transport System (PTS) connectivity is increasing the land price in the precinct and making it a high-income group neighborhood which is providing the opportunity for compact high rise mixed-use construction and thus transforming the area into a prospective Transit-oriented Development model. It will discuss the scope as well as constraints to the TOD Scheme in the current situation in the Precinct.
