Chandkheda: A precinct bound by its core

Every settlement in the history of earth has evolved on the basis of an event or a series of events. Similarly the establishment of an institution led to the birth of a plush suburb in the outskirts of Ahmedabad, now known as the New C.G road area. predominantly a residential area, it has urbanised rapidly rapidly and transformed from an agrarian society to an independent township over a short span of twenty years. Apart from other factors, the decision of the state to build a government university in the heart of the precinct, plays the most important role in shaping its features like the urban form, land use, infrastructure and other amenities. Although a few independent houses existed already, the allotment of a 44 acre plot of land to the establishment of a government university acted as a catalyst to the physical and economic growth in the area.
