Chandlodiya, An Urban Village, a Growing Suburb

India is changing its name from the land of villages to the land of cities due to factors like urbanization, migration, development, economic reasons etc. The population reallocation have led people to settle in peri-urban areas. All these led to more haphazard development and planning. This inadequate planning and governance in these peri-urban areas is resulting in various problems. Chandlodiya being peri-urban area of Ahmedabad having one part Gamtal which is present there from past more than 30 years is still being unaffected because of development in other parts of the precinct. Many people are wishing to move to Chandlodiya is because of lower property rates and also cost of living in other parts of the city is high as compared to Chandlodiya. Also the people living in Gamtal region decided to not to move out even after earning well with income range Rs50, 000/- to Rs10, 0000 as they chose to live on their ancestral land. The settlement of Gamtal is still happy and do not wish to move outside their territory even after facing number of issues such as water and sanitation, Street network and connectivity etc. The people of gamtal have created their own little world with all the facilities there itself. It has affordable schools, institutions, well secured streets  etc. This urban village of Chandlodiya have very well maintained. Even after many challenges faced by the people staying in gamtal, they have settled down peacefully setting up their own homes in this hustling bustling  city in search of jobs and fulfilling their dreams.
