Decoding the Liveability of Lal Darwaja

The portfolio Decoding the Liveability of Lal Darwaja is compiled as a part of the Understanding the City Studio. The Lal Darwaja precinct is situated on the eastern banks of the Sabarmati and is the gateway to the walled city of Ahmedabad. Lal Darwaja is the most important commercial hub and heritage zone of Ahmedabad. The main objective of this study is to find the compatibility of citizens and the services and infrastructure provided to them. This can be done in reference to the National Liveability Index prepared by the Central government. The liveability index score gives the perspective of how compatible the city is and guides the urban local governments as to where the city is lacking and what needs to be done.
