Evolution of Ellisbridge as Affluent Commercial District

Ellisbridge, located at the western end of the Swami Vivekananda Bridge, popularly known as Ellis Bridge, is an amalgam of vast and huge institutional campuses, high end commercial and residential settlements. It is the first settlement developed outside the walled city of Ahmedabad in 1892 after the construction of Ellis Bridge, the first bridge connecting the east and west sides of the city. The area is a coherent amalgamation of historic buildings along with a variety of existing and proposed public infrastructure projects.
