Faces of large land parcels - A story of Jodhpur Tekra

The city can be observed through many perspectives and every region of the city differs from one another and its functions in a different ways. Ahmedabad is divided into east and west by Sabarmati River passings in the middle. Ahmedabad coexists with the old and the new settlement. Both the old and new have different typologies, densities, infrastructure etc. which was to be studied in the “Understanding the City” , Foundation 2019 studio at CEPT University. Each student was given a square kilometre of land to be studied on these various aspects. The precinct documented in this document lies in Jodhpur Tekra on the western fringe of Ahmedabad.The precinct is located at around 5.5 kilometres from the CEPT University. The precinct comprises mostly of high income neighbourhood with large land parcels. The precinct lies between the CBD of the city and the outskirts of the city, making it a good location for livelihood. The document looks at the precinct taking land as a determinant factor. It also illustrates the effects of the land on various other aspects of the precinct.
