Homogeneous Neighbourhood

The journey over the past 4 months has been stimulation and enlightening; the studio was beneficial for the understanding of each layer of a city. The portfolio summaries the detailed study of Ranip precinct located in the western part of Ahmedabad. It analyses key elements of the city such as its urban form, land characteristics, transport connectivity, public-amenities, socio-economic aspects including the choices and travel behaviour of the people. The portfolio is based on the notion of a “Homogeneous Neighbourhood”. A neighbourhood is homogeneous if it talks about the three aspects, i.e. its physical characteristics, the ethnicity of the people living in that area and the accessibility and connectivity to the public amenities. All such aspects make an area homogeneous. The scope of the studio is limited by just analysing the exercises done in the precinct, therefore, no concrete proposals have been made in this portfolio.
