Understanding a city is a complex endeavor, as multiple physical, social, psychological and financial patterns and layers coalesce to create the story of a city. One begins to appreciate the various tangible and intangible inter-linkages and intricacies that make a city functional, and essentially work the mechanism that binds individuals in a community.The report offers an insight into Nikol, an eastern suburb of Ahmedabad planned as a predominantly residential area under the Town Planning Scheme implemented in 1998. While it functions as a residential hub today, there is much potential for commerce and employment due to the land availability, dominant age and income group in the area. This report studies Nikol through the lenses of ‘Live’, ‘Work’ and ‘Play’ to assess the present scenario, the drawbacks and the possible measures to achieve a Complete Neighborhood.
