TRANSIT AS CATALYST IN TRANSFORMATION OF GHATLODIA

Many areas on the western part transformed into crowed habitats of people with different economical backgrounds. Ghatlodia is one such area in the western part of Ahmedabad that experienced transformation from negligence. As a part of the foundation studio during the master course in Urban design, 1 square kilometer cluster in the wester outskirt of Ahmedabad was selected and studied extensively for developing deep understanding abount the area and its various urban factors. While studying and analysizing, it either developed or broaden my understanding about the various urban perspectives for streets, infrastructure, buildings and its various form, open spaces, public spaces, economic factors which are important for planning etc. This study introduces to the real life constraints and problem in urban aspects and lead to the cross-disciplinary thinking while approaching for its solution.
