URBANISED GHODASAR - A TRADE OFF FOR OPEN PUBLIC SPACES

Ghodasar is an area in which transformation has happened horizontally. On analyzing Google earth images, till year 2008-09, the residential areas had green pockets but after that, as the population increased, they transformed those green areas into hard paved open parking spaces. Maybe there were open public spaces but they were privatized by local residents as their demands changed. Public spaces require something in its physical form that it allows a person to distinguish them from their surroundings as a clear and identifiable place. Public realm is different for everybody. In my perception, the areas of Godasar have been majorly about its streets and their transformation.
