Effect of Urbanization in the Historic Fabric of a City

The project describes about the effects due to urbanization in the historic fabric of Thekkepuram, Kozhikode in Kerala. Thekkepuram, being a trade based settlement in Kozhikode have had major transformations in the past decades due to urbanization. The project explains the history, evolution and transformation of the precinct with respect to the city and describes the heritage character and common feature. The housing adjustment theory and the transformations in infrastructure, later moving on to the comparison of heritage districts in Kerala such as Ernakulam and Palakkad on the basis of similar topography and different socio-cultural norms are discussed too.
