Ghatlodiya: Homogenous Residential Neighborhood

Ghatlodiya located in the western region of Ahmedabad, which is not part of the new developments in the fringe areas with modern societies and high-rise buildings and nor is it a part of core Ahmedabad with Pols and highly dense colonies. Ghatlodiya is a predominantly residential neighborhood that developed between the 1960s and 1990s in what was then the outskirts of Ahmedabad. This portfolio tries to bring out the character of the precinct which is influenced by its predominant residential built, through several different studies, data collection and analysis over a period. Policy interventions such as green belt development and planning development interventions such as implementation of BRTS in 2009 and transport infrastructure improvement have shaped up the area over the years. The recent project of a six-lane SG highway for better connections to neighboring cities like Gandhinagar has also influenced and impacted the development of the area. Overall, the location of the precinct, its connectivity, built form and the corresponding property prices makes it a desirable location to live.
