Invisible Line & Visible Conflicts of Chandkheda

The portfolio includes a detailed analysis of a one square kilometer precinct in Chandkheda, on Ahmedabad's northern fringes. According to the Development Plan(DP), it was incorporated into the Ahmedabad Municipality (AMC) in 2008, but some area remains under the Urban Development Authority of both Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. Chandkheda has evolved over the last 20 years, with increased employment opportunities and in-migration from various parts of Gujarat to improve quality of life. Infrastructure facilities were provided but inefficient in areas beyond the AMC limit with no water supply, no daily waste collection, poor road infrastructure, and other similar issues that made the surroundings unhygienic.
