Jleeb: A Residential Block Where People Precedes Cars

Kuwait had an influx of people after the discovery of oil. From scattered settlements to the first master plan designed according to the Garden city Principle, the planners could never project the future population. Providing housing and reducing congestion on roads were the main concern of planners. As a result, the city transformed from a city designed for people to a city designed for automobiles. Although in the subsequent master plans planners tried to incorporate the former principle however there were huge disparities in land use planning. Comparing all other residential neighbourhoods, Jleeb showed how cities work considering people’s needs.
