The public realm is a vital component of cities, but is often given more importance in commercial and residential parts of the city. However, industries are also major economic centers (specially in the case of Ahmedabad) with a significant share of the working population. It is thus important to address the quality of public realm in industrial areas which have been neglected for long. This study focuses on the neglected public realm in the industrial precinct of Odhav, with a comparison with other industrial precincts, and its impact on public life in the city.
