Understanding Peripheral Densification

The peripheral precinct of Vastral has been one of the most recent developments within Ahmedabad. The once present Urban Village has transformed to an urban area with its organic narrow local street patterns as the only evident fact of its existence. The high residential density is fueled firstly through industries, then the increased connectivity of the Vastral road and finally the advent of Metro. Such high density is an outcome of high demand induced by low property prices. The project discusses the resultant of Housing through Livelihood, Built form and typology, Public Realm, Street Networks and Transport choices.
