Kaba : A multi-purpose deployable structure

This studio emphasised on learning the concept of deployable structures through Origami techniques and kinematics of linkages. It led to the development of a structural concept out of preliminary explorations based on a specific problem given to me. The idea was to create a structure that can be used as a temporary shelter for spaces like disaster protection, car parking, etc. Along with this, it can also be used in other ways which bring versatility to the structure. I performed manual as well as software-based calculations and did a structural analysis to determine member forces, joint forces, and sectional sizes. In the final phase of the studio, I made a scaled working model of the structure and the joinery along with the basic drawings. Click here for full portfolio.
