A House of four In Shillong

This Studio was aimed towards conveying sustainable answers for any sort of development assuming that it is already built or then again in case you are at the planning stage. The Studio started with the exploration of meaning sustainability in various industries and how sustainability is being implemented. After that microclimate analysis was the next step towards archiving sustainability solutions. In that exercise, we understood that how the surroundings of any neighborhood affect its climate in terms of humidity & temperature. After that, we started analyzing our dwelling on how good the thermal performance of the building is and how the design of the building affects the building envelope. We compared all the 12 cases and then started making improvisation to improvise building envelope performance. We then were introduced to simulation software like IESVE to compare manual readings with software-based calculation and it had its advantages and disadvantages which varied for different cases. After that, we were given 4 cities and we had to study its climatic condition and had to design a residence for a family of 4 considering all the pros & cons of the city's climate. In the conclusion, this studio helped me in improvising my design thinking and selection of construction methods & techniques as well as a selection of materials according to the climate.
