DESIGNING FROM INDIGENOUS MATERIALS

This studio is focused on indigenous construction techniques and reinterpreting in the modern context. This studio is based on making models from the original materials which help to understand such properties of the materials and how to do better with this kind of materials. Hands are more important than eyes. This studio also focused on the basic layout, structural and joinery details of the building. I learned about the construction of bamboo and rammed earth. In bamboo, I did one case study and in the final project, I used rammed earth as my material and explored it.
