Impact of LULC Change on Hydrological Parameters

Rapid economic development in India has intensified the changes in natural land cover and thus affects the availability of water resources. The present study aims to analyze past land-use changes for three time periods and assess their impacts on water resources in the Musi river basin, Hyderabad. The Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT), an open-source hydrological model was used to simulate hydrological processes and assess the impacts of land-use change on surface runoff, groundwater flow, lateral flow, percolation, and evapotranspiration in the basin. Various geospatial and statistical analysis has been carried out along with the modelling approach.
