Interpreting Vernacular Wisdom in Contemporary Community

The project is about designing a Neighbourhood by taking the characteristics of the vernacular house form of Sidhhpur, Gujarat.  The site is located near the state highway in Siddhpur. The concept is to Reinterpret the design principles of vernacular house form to design vertically stacked apartment for mass housing. Design principles like Hierarchical open space, car-free neighbourhood, pedestrian prioritized are considered to create an interactive neighbourhood. Courtyard typology is taken as a stacking possibility as a non-related unit.
