Ecological Conservation & Research Centre ANNA HERINGER

The Aravallis, an ecosystem once rich in flora, fauna and minerals is under severe threat from mining and large-scale real estate developments. The intent is to rehabilitate the abandoned mines in Ambaji by developing an Ecological Conservation and Research Centre which would sensitise people towards environmental issues of Aravallis.
The proposed Centre aims to become a ‘training ground’ for exchange of skills and know-how techniques between craftsmen and locals (Bhil community) to participate in the rejuvenation of the site as a collective process. The purpose is to further question the idea of engagement between the living and non living and how they further develop the idea of sense of belonging where the building becomes part of their lives.
