The ruins of the old village of Karikattukuppam, home to 200 families are the only visual and physical entities which recall trauma. In the case of place(ruin) of trauma, where do we find the balance between healing, commemorating and preserving? The intent of this project is to speculate possibility of drawing parallel to the impossibility of witnessing trauma. The traumatic event is not reinforced in this encounter, but monumental, unfathomable void is given voice between the viewer and the place. A program on the lines of a memorial which would perform the processes of preserving, commemorating and healing the trauma.
