Multigenerational Housing

The living form and family structure we enter into have changed with India's shift in social demographics. This underlines a timely need to address the impact of an increasingly aging and millennial population. The current state of typical mass housing in India doesn't respond to the shifting needs of households. Thus, the project proposes a new housing approach that transforms tenements into multi-generational housing for the evolving future that will embrace all kinds of range in age having singles, couples, families, and the elderly to live cohesively in a built environment. Design strategies are incorporated to successfully interface between occupant comfort, social integration, and adaptability that form significant components in mediating the needs and demands of this demographic shift.
