The study profiles a 1 sq km area of Thrippunithura, the temple town of Cochin city region. Kochi is one of the fastest growing urban agglomeration in the Ernakulam district of Kerala. Development plans have played a major role in the development of Kochi and have divided Kochi into 11 zones including Thrippunithura. Thrippunithura developed as an organically developed town into a residential suburb with the urbanisation and the development of the neighbourhood, Maradu and Kalamassery. Which are the major commercial and ITE zones. The development of ITES and commerce has increased residential demand in the suburbs of Thrippunithura. The proximity from the city centre and the suburban features have added to the residential demand. Also, the residential area is complimented by a varied set of spaces like hospitals, schools, religious centres and recreational areas qualifying the area for a good neighbourhood.
