Freehand Drawing

The first exercise in the programme trains the students to draw freehand neatly and correctly. It progresses from drawing parallel lines and exploring the process of working with various pens and pencils to drawing basic geometric shapes and 3D geometric forms and performing additions and subtractions with them to better and 3D geometric forms and performing additions and subtractions with them to better visualize the shapes. The exercise has a component that focuses on experimenting with rendering techniques, using different mediums and tools, leading up to rendering a composition of solids and the assemblage made for the previous stage of the exercise. The students also learn basic lettering techniques. The exercise sets the stage for all the upcoming work by also introducing concerns with composing sheets and drawings.
