The design of the artist husband and wife residence tackling the extreme climate of Leh is influenced by many factors mainly the orientation and the sun direction. The process involved the exploration of various of climatic strategies. For the climatic approach, the main idea was to develop a form which has maximum south exposure to let the winter sun penetrate and  heat the building during day and store it in thermal mass to later use it at night. The design focusses on using solar passive solutions to withstand against the harsh climate.
