The Homestay

The site is in Rajpipla. the process started with documenting houses in Rajpipla, analyzing its climate, structure, spatial planning with the help of documented drawings and sketches. And creating homestay for the client Mr. and Mrs. Parikh which involves the implementation of vernacular methods learnt from the documentation in an contemporary way. The design incorporates climatic resolution towards a site which is surrounded nine meters walls from 3 sides and only open from southwest, by creating vertical courtyards. Thus the design tries to resolve climate, spatial planning according to client needs and the structure with, seventy percent of old material.

Refined Documented drawings and Model

Decoding the documented house in Rajpipla by analyzing climate, sociocultural aspects and spatial qualities .

Design Brief and Massing model- discovering volumes according to climate. And thus creating vertical courtyard to catch southwest winds.

Process sheets

Reflected ceiling plans shows the structure , And the structure tries incorporates joineries of different materials. Ground floor has courtyards, the larger courtyard is used for performances and interacting space in the evening.

The above two floor has rooms for the guests and it provides space for bonfire , dinner and night. Balconies for individual rooms

Roof made from Mangalore tiles and the terrace to can be used for festivals and gatherings.

wall section has sunken slab made with metal beams and stone flooring. And the model Tries to show the spaces and volumes of the design.
