This DRP encourages to explore the vernacular practices in conjunction with use of engineered materials with more efficiency. To explore this, the case of Majuli was chosen wherein the growth and use of Bamboo as a construction material is extensive yet rudimentary. This study intends to explore the utility of vernacular bamboo construction techniques in walling systems along with industrially manufactured products to respond to the dire flooding situation that results in annual relocation of the people of Majuli - such that it improves and simplifies their existing lives borrowing from the practices of their own culture.
