Explore | Embrace | Revive

Trapped within the concrete jungle lies the green lung of Kochi, the Mangalavanam Bird Sanctuary, which is struggling to survive within the concrete walls. The site falls under the Ecologically Sensitive Zone of the sanctuary and has a rich potential for ecologically restoring the land, which was once a factory ground. Through the development of a biodiversity park, the project aims at creating a space for man and nature through different zones of discovery and interaction, passive recreation, and a nature reserve that is an extension of the Mangalavanam Bird Sanctuary. The landscape character of the spaces has been designed with respect to each of the zones and is further explored through the detailed planting palette of a transect through the three zones. Over a course of time, the project aims at rejuvenating the lost glory of the site and bird sanctuary, which will in turn create a green oasis within the concrete jungle!
