Vastral is a very densely populated region. The people living here are majorly of lower or middle class which use the public transport for going from one place to the other. After the metro comes in the region, these people will be the ones using it for going to the other parts of the city. This junction is a centre point which connects all the major roads starting from the commercial central zone near the metro towards the residential zone. It is surrounded by schools, hospitals, temples, vegetable markets, banks, provisional stores etc. The junction connects 3-4 major roads of the area at different levels. The Kharicut canal also intersects at this junction. And it being the commercial centre gets a lot of footfall as well. This leads to extreme chaos in this junction. Thus it becomes very difficult for the pedestrian to cross the junction. They keep waiting for a long time for the traffic to clear. With the metro this chaos will further increase. Thus the streets of this area need to be re-think again. Proposal: The various road typologies have been identified and the site has been chosen in such a manner that it includes all the major roads of the area and connects it to the pocket which will be developed and will connect the people of the area together socially.
