Khazan Aqua Centre

The program aims to develop an interconnected network of practices for the Khazans which operates on native principles. It can further be replicated in other inland conditions. It primarily focuses on the repair and fortification of bunds on the riverbanks. A small wet dock is designed on the riverbank, where the materials from the barge can be unloaded. The intervention also tries to improve the fertility of the Khazan land by controlling the water, using natural manure for reducing salinity and increasing the nutrients in the soil is considered as a soil recovery process. An aquaculture centre is proposed where fish breeding is incorporated to boost inland fish production. As soil recovery is a lengthy process for barren or salinity invaded farmlands , ponds supplement livelihood with fish and vegetable farming in patches which are integrated within the network of recovery practices.
