TORI : Shelving for Garvi Gurjari

THE FOCUS OF THE STUDIO IS TO DEVELOP THE FURNITURE USING WOOD FOR GARVI GIRJARI, A HANDICRAFT STORE. THE MOTIVE WAS TO DESIGN A SHELVING FOR HOME FURNISHING PRODUCTS.
THE DESIGN HAVE TO BE FLEXIBLE IN ORDER TO ACCOMODATE DIFFERENT PRODUCTS AS WELL. THE SHELVING CAN BE VISUALIZED AS ORTHOGRAPHIC PROJECTIONS OF WOODEN MEMBERS.
THE ENTIRE SHELVING IS DIVIDED INTO TWO PARTS IE. THE BASE AND THE SHELVING UNIT. THE COMPONENTS HERE ARE USED AS MODULES TO DEVELOP AND INTER-DEPENDENT SYSTEM. THE SHELF IS MADE WITH HARDWOOD (TEAK), AND ALL THE PLANKS ARE ASSEMBLED USING TENON MORTISE WHICH PROVIDES A STRONG FRAMEWORK FOR THE SHELF. THE DESIGN IS SUCH THAT IT CAN FUNCTION AS A TABLE AS WELL.
